Diary, 1861-1863.

Diary, 1861 May 9 - 1863 July 4, kept at Pensacola, Fla. and Corinth and Vicksburg, Miss., in which are detailed the events and activities Alison observed during the Civil War. Many individuals and actions were described, but the vivid description of the Siege of Vicksburg until its surrender is the most notable aspect of the diary, though his description of everyday camp life, especially sentinel duty, and the capture of spies is also good.
